Our Electronic media uses two different size ratios.
Slides for the front page (or kids' page) of our website are often sourced from the Electronic Sign slides. However, this is not a requirement.  In any case, IT will often have to edit slides before being added to the website.

The Electronic Slides (AKA TV Displays) use a 16:9 aspect ratio, and any images destined to be displayed on them need to be 960x540 pixels. They can be larger as long as they maintain that aspect ratio.

Slides for the Carousels on the Front page or Kids/Teen pages use a 3:1 aspect ratio, and any images destined to be displayed on them need to be 900x300 pixels. They can be larger as long as they maintain that aspect ratio.
'''Slides should be designed using PowerPoint.'''  This allows for easy editing of text in the event of errors or updates.  It also permits easier conversion from the television-based aspect ratio to the website slider aspect ratio.

In either case images of text should be avoided as much as possible (Logos being the major exception).
'''Text, or entire slides, should not be un-editable graphical images'''.  Again, for editability.

Any slides created for either media should be designed in PowerPoint, and saved to the appropriate location on the P: drive. This has several benefits:
* The slide can be edited easily by any appropriate staff in the event of Errors, Reschedule/Cancel, Repeat or Update.
* The slide can more easily be converted from one destination format to another.

While using other programs for inspiration or initial design isn't verboten, converting between various programs can be problematic, and can lead to stretched/squished images, degradation of resolution or even non-portability of assets. Additionally it may require account creation with third parties and extra work communicating to transfer access to assets between staff. Using a powerpoint template at the appropriate location on our P: drive obviates all of these problems.

Creating Slides for Website Carousels

Slides for the front page (or kids' page) of our website are often sourced from the Electronic Sign slides. However, this is not a requirement. In any case, IT will often have to edit slides before being added to the website.

Requirements for submitting slides

Slides should be designed using PowerPoint. This allows for easy editing of text in the event of errors or updates. It also permits easier conversion from the television-based aspect ratio to the website slider aspect ratio.

Text, or entire slides, should not be un-editable graphical images. Again, for editability.

If a slide exists on an Electronic Sign and is fully editable as described above, IT will take care of the needed changes for website publication. If you are making your own slide, please consider the following.

Aspect Ratio and Size

The Electronic Slides for branch TV Displays use a 16:9 aspect ratio. However, slides for the Carousels use a 3:1 aspect ratio.

Slides are 900x300. They can be larger, but they must still maintain the 3:1 ratio.
